KALU Forecast

Bearish   ↔   Bullish

80% Confidence

Bullish Case: Q2 2026 delivered record net sales, conversion revenue, EBITDA; leverage fell to 2.1x with 122% implied EPS growth and 91.7% average surprise history. Call volume is 78% above puts and bullish risk exceeds bearish by 17% across tenors. The Helium price PDF centers ~145–150 with a 155+ shoulder above the market's, and the ISM at 54.6 supports aerospace/industrial demand. AI forecast +1.7% favors a drift back toward the $160–170 band.

Bearish Case: KALU is -12.9% over sixty days ($174.61→$152), trending down with the term structure backwardated—short-dated IV elevated signals unresolved near-term event risk. The Kalamazoo fatality/MIOSHA investigation adds operational and liability overhang. Zacks ranks the industry bottom-3% with 23 straight months of rising input costs; tariffs and destocking could compress conversion margins. Both PDFs show thin density below $135, but a demand shock would reopen that left tail quickly.

Potential Outcomes: 1. Recovery to $160–175 by Dec (35%): earnings beat record + call flow; falsifiable: 12/18 close >$160.
2. Range $145–160 (30%): Helium/market PDFs peak ~145–150; falsifiable: Dec settle inside band.
3. Slide to $130–145 (20%): backwardation deepens, margins slip; falsifiable: close <$145 pre-Dec.
4. Drop <$130 (10%): MIOSHA fines/demand shock; falsifiable: close <$130 by 12/18.
5. Rally >$185 (5%): aluminum spike; falsifiable: price >$185.
Calibration: my earlier Sep targets ran too low (Mar–Apr); June's 190+ call overshot—now centering nearer PDF peaks.
