Cracker Barrel reverted its new logo after political, investor and customer backlash

business

Cracker Barrel unveiled a simplified logo and wider transformation plan as part of a multi‑year effort to modernize the chain, prompting immediate online criticism that framed the change as "woke," which the company later reversed and restored the classic "Old Timer" mark [2][3][4]. The rollback followed social amplification by conservative influencers and President Trump, investor pressure after heavy stock losses and prior warnings from activist shareholder Sardar Biglari, and internal decisions that also removed DEI/Pride references from the company website [9][15][4][8]. Company leadership cited the broader transformation and financial headwinds such as tariffs and weak retail sales as context for the rebrand work, while critics argued the move stripped brand character and betrayed core customers [3][7][2].
