The seven samurai offered villagers a future of pride, camaraderie, self-reliance and abundance. In the current U.S., Democratic party and civil society leaders must themselves act like “hungry samurai” providing inspiring images of a future in which education and healthcare are treated as natural rights, work and leisure become rewarding and fulfilling for all, old age is secure, and the natural environment cherished and protected. AOC, Bernie and UAW leader Shawn Fain may be hungry samurai.
